Language Group

The Willamette Tsa-La-Gi Language Group meets almost every Monday from 6:00–7:30 PM at the LCC Longhouse.

We come together to practice Cherokee introductions, syllabary, conversation, and other topics in a supportive, peer-led environment and are working throught the Cherokee Nation’s book, We Are Learning Cherokee, Level 1.

There’s no formal teacher—just community members learning together, sharing knowledge, and helping one another grow in the language. Anyone is welcome to join at any time, regardless of experience level.

Puget Sound Language Group

Reach out to a board member for details, if you would like to join the Cherokee Community of Puget Sound’s Beginner Cherokee Language Study Group, which meets twice a month for about 90 minutes. No experience is required—anyone can join at any time! This isn’t a formal class but a peer-led space to practice and learn together. Sessions usually include vocabulary, grammar, syllabary practice, audio from first-language speakers, games, and plenty of laughter.
